Gibraltar airport is linked to the city centre by buses 3 and 9. Services depart every 10 minutes and the journey usually takes 15 minutes or less. Gibraltar as a whole is compact but 9 regular bus routes serve the territory, while a cable car takes visitors from near the botanical gardens to the upper rock.
The border between Gibraltar and Spain is open 24 hours a day. Passports are required to enter Spain (or identity cards for EU citizens). If you are leaving Gibraltar or returning to it by car, allow some extra time for your border crossing.
