Which countries can you visit in the UK and Ireland?

England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are the countries that make up the United Kingdom. You can also visit the Republic of Ireland, which is also part of the British Isles.

When’s the best time to travel to the UK and Ireland?

With their mild temperatures, the UK and Ireland can be enjoyed all year around. Visit the cities in the winter, or make the most of the countryside during the clement summer months. Each country has a great cultural calendar. Do your research so you know to be at Stonehenge for the summer solstice (mid June), and when to celebrate St Patrick's Day in Dublin (early spring).

Do I need a visa to travel to the UK and Ireland?

If you are a citizen of the European Union, you do not need a visa to visit the UK. Despite the recent referendum vote for the UK to leave the European Union, visa-free travel is still in place for citizens of the EU to and from the UK. If you are arriving from some countries outside the EU, you may need to apply for a visa before you travel. To check and apply, please visit the UK Border Agency Website.

When to tip

It's customary to tip between 10-15% in restaurants in the UK. It's not mandatory, but it's always appreciated.
