A taste of la dolce vita
Discover the irresistible appeal of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, a dramatic stretch of rocky coastline home to pastel hilltop towns and lemon groves with the scent of bougainvillea at every hairpin turn. With its film-star good looks and beautiful views over the Tyrrhenian Sea, there’s plenty to love about this iconic destination.
Fly with British Airways from London to Naples to embark on an Italian adventure. Stretching from the Sorrento Peninsula all the way along to Salerno, all trips to the Amalfi Coast begin on the famous Strada Statale 163. This winding road follows the coast through famous spots like Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Stop off in Positano for seafood, sunbathing and people-watching at the chic Arienzo Beach Club. Then continue to Amalfi to take in some history at the striking Cattedrale di Sant’Andrea, Amalfi’s 13th-century cathedral, which overlooks the town’s handsome Piazza del Duomo. Finally, finish your day by settling in for a sunset to remember from the terrace gardens of Villa Cimbrone in picture-perfect Ravello. Book your Amalfi Coast holiday today.
Flights from London Heathrow to the Amalfi Coast’s nearest airport, Naples, take approximately two hours and 45 minutes.
The region is very popular over the peak summer months, so you’ll often find flights are cheaper from October to April, when the temperatures are cooler too.
Many of the Amalfi Coast’s restaurants, beach clubs, hotels and villas cater to the glamorous international crowd that descends upon the region each summer, so prices can be high – although there’s plenty of choice everywhere you go. If you’re on a budget, you may find that prices are slightly cheaper in Naples, which makes a great base for exploring the Amalfi area.
When you arrive at Naples International Airport, you're just a short journey to the city centre. A number of transport options are available on arrival, including the Naples Alibus Airport Shuttle, which offers a cheap and convenient way to travel to the city's central station or the port. Alternatively, taxis cost around €20 to the city centre.
From Naples, you can reach the Amalfi Coast by taxi, or by boarding a train to Sorrento before continuing by bus to your destination. You can also take the opportunity to see the impressive coastline from the water on a ferry ride from Naples to Amalfi or Positano.
You can hire a car with British Airways too if you want to see more of what the Amalfi Coast has to offer. You’ll receive great benefits, with all mandatory charges included and 24-hour customer support, plus you’ll collect Avios points on every rental.
You’re spoilt for choice along this stretch of coastline, with its attention-seeking ocean views, beautiful hotels, world-class restaurants and endless treasures. What’s more, the region’s islands are not to be missed, with Capri, Ischia and Procida serving up even more of la dolce vita. Take a ferry from Naples, Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi to Capri, an impossibly glamorous island loved by the international glitterati. This mostly car-free island is a hotspot for shopping, fine dining and simply soaking up its unrivalled natural beauty. While you’re on Capri, take a boat trip to the Blue Grotto, said to be a favourite swimming spot of the Roman emperor Tiberius, where the electric blue waters appear to be illuminated from below.
Discover outstanding service from the moment you book.
